Description
Lavender is a shrub with a woody, short, branchy stump. The stems, 20 to 50 centimeters, branchy from the base, are elongated, slender, whitish. They bear opposite leaves, lanceolate, linear, acute, persistent, hairy and whitish from an early age. The flowers, visible in June July, of a pretty blue, are borne by flowering stems, larger than the tufts, in a terminal spike. True lavender, or asp lavender, is distinguished by linear bracts that are somewhat bare, leaves that are wider and spatulate; it is at a lower altitude. Lavender stichas have greyish leaves up to the inflorescence, small, purple or blackish. Lavandins are hybrids formed from true lavender and great lavender. We get a not insignificant essence.
