Salome, wife of Zebedee, is best known as the mother of the apostles James and John. It is also attested that she followed Jesus and served him (Luke 8:3), that she witnessed his Crucifixion (Matthew 27:56) and that she wanted to participate in his embalming (Mark 16:1). But it is less known that this daughter of Zion was an expert in the subtle art of using the different powers of plants. And, through the ages, Hebrew tradition has transmitted to us this rite, still practiced today around Lake Tiberias (Galilee), a rite that the Jews call the Ritual of Salome.
On the northern shore of Lake Tiberias (Galilee), not far from Capernaum and Chorozain, is Bezaïda. It is the third city (after Jerusalem and Capernaum) most often mentioned in the Gospels. However, its location has only just been found. Ignored from the Old Testament, Bezaïda is part of the story of Jesus. Isn't it the birthplace of at least three of the twelve apostles?
