Through the laws of Kabbalah, each of the 150 psalms were given what the ancients called a "Wonder of God." So, to obtain a grace from the Lord, it was not enough to sing the psalm indicated, it was also necessary to perform a "plus" that allowed to be in adequacy with the Lord ...

The oldest Psalms have 3 000 years! King David, singing and dancing for God, is considered their father. Prayer of the believing Jew, as was the case of Jesus himself, the Psalms express all the human feelings of man before God, they are a prayer of praise and supplication. And since then, there is not a single moment when, somewhere in the world, a Psalm is raised to God. And thus, for centuries and centuries, these incessant praises and miraculous supplications have been realized.

"O LORD, I call on you, come hurry to me! Give ear to my voice, when I call on you. May my prayer be before your face like incense "(Ps 141: 1-2). Since those early times, men have sought to enter into communication with God. The Psalms are therefore part of these means.

In time, codifications and methods of recitation were instituted. For example at present, the Universal Catholic Church uses in the liturgy 147 psalms on the 150 of the biblical book. Thus, at each office, the psalms are the body of the prayer of the Church, the raw material of the Liturgy of the Hours.

But leave that aside to look at how early Christians used these psalms with wonderful powers. This way, much less conventional than the Liturgy of the Hours, is strongly inspired by the Jewish tradition which itself is much more inclined to rites and rituals. Through the laws of Kabbalah, each of the 150 psalms were given what the elders called a "Wonder of God." Thus, to obtain a grace from the Lord, it was not enough to sing the psalm indicated, it was also necessary to perform a "plus" that allowed to be in adequacy with the Lord.

Psalm 069: Against the bad spiritual waves

On returning from vacation or travel, it sometimes happens that we find that we have been the victim of bad spiritual waves: abnormal fatigue, low morale, stomach aches, taste for nothing ... Despite our depression, it is still possible to act by reciting Psalm 69. It is a powerful call to obtain divine help in order to re-establish the harmony which may have been temporarily destabilized.

How to use this psalm?

To the choirmaster. On the lilies. From David.

- 69:2
Save me, O God!
Because the waters threaten my life.

I sink into the mud, unable to hold myself;
I have fallen into a pit, and the waters are flooding me.

I exhaust myself screaming, my throat is drying out,
My eyes are consumed as I look to my God.

They are more numerous than the hair of my head,
Those who hate me without cause;
They are powerful, those who want to lose me,
Who are wrong my enemies.
What I have not stolen I must return.

O God! you know my madness,
And my faults are not hidden from you.

Let those who hope in you not be confounded because of me,
Lord, Lord of hosts!
May those who seek you not be ashamed because of me, God of Israel!

Because it is for you that I carry the reproach,
That shame covers my face;

I became a stranger to my brothers,
A stranger to my mother's sons.

Because the zeal of your house devours me,
And the outrages of those who insult you fall on me.

I shed tears and I fast,
And that's what draws me the reproach;

I take a bag for clothing,
And I am the object of their sarcasm.

Those sitting at the door are talking about me,
And the drinkers of strong liqueurs put me in songs.

But I address my prayer to you, O Lord!
May it be favorable weather, O God, by your great goodness!
Answer me, assuring me your help!

Get me out of the mud, and let me not sink in!
May I be delivered from my enemies and from the abyss!

May the waves no longer inundate me,
May the abyss not swallow me up,
And that the pit does not close on me!

Hear me, O LORD! for your goodness is immense.
In your great mercies, look to me,

And do not hide your face from your servant!
Since I am in distress, hurry to answer me!

Come near to my soul, deliver it!
Save me, because of my enemies!

You know my shame, my shame, my ignominy;
All my opponents are in front of you.

Shame breaks my heart, and I am sick;
I wait for pity, but in vain,
Comforters, and I find none.

They put gall in my food,
And, to quench my thirst, they drink vinegar for me.

May their table be a trap for them
And a net within their safety!

May their eyes darken and no longer see,
And make their loins flounder!

Spread on them your anger,
And may your ardent fury reach them!

May their homes be devastated
May there be no more inhabitants in their tents!

Because they persecute the one you strike,
They tell the suffering of those you hurt.

Adds iniquity to their iniquities,
And let them not share in your mercy!

May they be erased from the book of life,
And let them not be registered with the righteous!

I am unhappy and suffering:
O God, may your help lift me up!

I will celebrate the name of God with hymns,
I will exalt him with praise.

It pleases the Lord more than a bull With horns and hooves.

The unfortunate see it and rejoice;
You who seek God, your heart live!

For the Lord listens to the poor,
And he does not despise his captives.

Let the heavens and the earth celebrate him,
The seas and everything that moves in them!

For God will save Zion, and build the cities of Judah;
They will settle there and take possession of it;

The posterity of his servants will make his inheritance,
And those who love his name will have their home there.
